Durr Estates was founded by John Durr and Arlene McKenzie in September 1969. From their modest headquarters in Constantia, Cape Town, John and Arlene worked hard to establish their business, co-opting the assistance of John’s brothers - Storm, Kent, and Gavin – in the process. Their hard work paid off, for this enterprising family business quickly grew in rank and reputation, achieving a position of enviable preeminence in the early 1970’s. Many of the benchmarks and codes of practice established by the Durr family some 40 years ago, continue to govern the real estate industry today.

To facilitate the expansion of the business, Durr Estates transformed itself in 1995 from a family owned enterprise into a franchise operation consisting of independently owned outlets. Having honed its reputation for honesty, reliability, and dependability over 40 years of service and commitment, Durr Estates now enjoys an expansive presence in the Southern, Western, and Eastern Cape of South Africa.
The Durr legacy - the pioneering spirit, ethical approach, commitment and perseverance - lives on in the company today, earning it the unanimous respect of clients and industry competitors alike.
